Twas the Night Before Quiz-Mass

Twas the night before quiz-mass, when all throughout the state,
All the think athletes were anticipating tomorrow's date.
The smell of flashcards hung in the air,
each page of Zumdahl's was being turned with care.
Yet despite all the studying for the next competition,
there did appear one jolly apparition.
As I did pry my eyes from some packets for a nap,
I heard on my window, a firm but light tap.
I knew in a moment, he was the saint of quiz bowl,
for his school t-shirt and shorts were quite an eyeful.
His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the stubble on his chin was as black as city snow;
He had a broad face and a little round belly
That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.
"Happy quiz-mass", said he while smiling,
"go have some fun, quit all that studying!
tomorrow's a day, that may fill you with stress,
so now's the time to chill and worry much less"
I could not but face him, and give a slight nod,
as he faced the window with his sleek toned bod.
I understood now, he was spreading the message
of this holiday's most important essence.
To the next house he was headed, to spread the spirit
of quiz-mass to more, just as I had gotten to hear it.
As he leaped out my window, and headed away,
I wish I could hear the saint have one more thing to say.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight,
"Happy Quiz-Mass to all, and to all a good night!"
Happy Holidays Everyone! ^^
