ACF Fall at Ridgewood High School Recap (10/17)

As the leaves turn maroon in the autumn landscape outside, Ridgewood High School hosted a high school mirror of ACF Fall, an introductory level college set, online, featuring teams from all across the nation. Congratulations to Belmont for winning the tournament! 3 New Jersey teams competed at the tournament last Saturday, October 17th.

High Tech

Under the pseudonym "Democritus," High Tech put off another stellar performance at the tournament, with a sublime prelimary bracket record and an even record against an intensely competitive playoff bracket. Both Deepak Gopalakrishnan and Max Brodsky placed among the top 10 overall individual scorers, at 10th and 6th respectively.

East Brunswick A

East Brunswick A put up an impressive showing as well, sweeping the upper consolation bracket. Joshua Yi led team's scoring at 46.7 PPG, placing him at 9th individual scorer in the whole tournament, helping them secure wins over national powerhouses such as Detroit Catholic Central A.

East Brunswick B

Despite being made up entirely of sophomores, East Brunswick B once again demonstrated the depth of their program with a winning 5-4 record in an competitive field of teams all across the country on a college tournament. Amitav narrowly missed top 10 individual scorers, put still ranked as 11th with 42.78 PPG, while Tanuj was not far behind with 37.78 PPG.

A special thanks to Ridgewood for hosting ACF Fall, as it's rare that any college sets are offered to be played in a tournament exclusively for high schoolers.

Clarke will be hosting a fall tournament (Clarke Fall II) soon on November 7th, 2020. That tournament will also be on Discord. Click here for more information and click here for our introduction to online quizbowl tournaments. Stay safe and good luck at your next tournament!
